When you look at a Wok, a Bamboo Steamer, an Ingredient Cubby or a Plate, a small overlay shows its contents and the next step. The wok even tells you which ingredients can start, continue or finish a dish. While you cook, your own wok stays on screen as long as you are within 8 blocks.
Item tooltips tell you where a Wok, Rattan Branch, Bamboo Steamer or placeable dish can go. The Ingredient Cubby and Rattan Basket explain themselves in their tooltip, hold Shift for more information.

- Wok: Start with, Next, Finish with, Toss!, Ready to Serve!
- "Toss!" slowly turns from gold to red as your time runs out
- The panel border shows the heat: normal on a campfire, red on a stove, blue on soul fire
- Bamboo Steamer: what goes in, steaming progress, what is ready
- Ingredient Cubby: item and amount of the compartment you look at
- Plate: the dish and how many servings are left
- Sticky Rice: shows when it needs fertilizer
